As entrepreneurs, the struggle to have a constant supply of customers is real (well unless you’re Oprah!). This is especially true in a recession or as a newbie and even more so, if you have not identified clearly what you are offering and to whom. We caught up with local Marketing Consultant and Business Coach Adanna Austin once more to shed some light on this topic.
Do an energy check
Austin reinforced that people are attracted to your energy and what you give is what you get. Have you found that you keep attracting customers from hell? Do an energy check and try to think more positive. The Law of Attraction is at work in most cases.
Know who your clients are
The marketing specialist also advised that you must take some time to clearly identify who your ideal client is (demographic, psychographics) as this would save you valuable time, energy and resources. She said the best way to do this is to understand their pain points. “Get a sense of the thing they are struggling with and then determine how your product or service can alleviate their pain. It’s not about you, but about the need they have and what they need fulfilled in their life.”
Austin says that once you understand what your customer needs, you would be better able to fill that gap. (Interestingly enough I found out that’s what led her to becoming a coach.) When you are able to do this, attracting them becomes much easier and the right people will come to you because you now have a clear idea of what you can/will provide and that will be reflected in your marketing or promotions.
The local business coach says it’s not always about the sale. She advised that when you provide your potential clients with valuable information, this will encourage them to buy from you. “People buy from people they know and trust. In order for them to trust you, you have to show them your worth, provide them with value e.g. a free session/consultation, samples of your products, a VIP viewing of the space etc.”
That’s it in a nutshell folks. Marketing made simple!
